How do you check on the status of a flight?

Flight status provides real-time information regarding flight departure and arrival times. If you don't know the flight number, check Flight Schedules to locate the flight number of interest. Provide the From City, To City, Date and Time to find the flight number. When the Flight Results screen appears, you should be able to locate the flight of interest. When you have located the flight number wanted, you are ready to check on flight status.

Using OAGflights.com: Enter the Flight Number, Airline (from a drop-down list) and Date.  For some flights you may have to select the city pair of interest. If you have logged in, you will need to select the Flight Details link to get to Flight Status information.

Using a Palm VII handheld: Choose Flight Status from the Main Menu. Enter Flight Number, Airline and Date. For some flights you may have to select the city pair of interest. When the Status screen appears, you can check on Availability.

Using a Mobile Phone: Choose Flight Status from the Main Menu. Enter the Airline, Flight Number and Date on successive screens. A Confirmation Screen appears with the data you entered. If incorrect, choose Fix, and make corrections. If correct, choose Next. For some flights you may have to choose the city pair of interest. From the Status screen you can check on Availability.

What information does Flight Status provide? Does Flight Status information cover all airlines?

OAG Mobile is dependent upon the airlines for all flight information. Insofar as possible, Flight Status provides the following information:
    • Airline and flight number
    • Departure city and airport
    • Arrival city and airport
    • Expected departure time and current status:  delayed, canceled, on-time
    • The number of minutes late
    • Departure gate and terminal number
    • Arrival gate and terminal number
    • Arrival baggage claim number

The airlines for which flight status is available are included in a drop down list. All other airlines are not available at this time.

When I get the Flight Schedule Results, how do I know which flights are non-stop?

When you use a Palm VII handheld, the Flight Results screen gives you this information. The list includes examples:
    • Airline abbreviation and flight number:  UA101
    • Departure time and airport code:  8:00a ORD
    • Arrival time and airport code: 12:00p SFO
    • Number of stops (S):  0
    • Equipment used (Eqp):  747

The flight in the example is non-stop.

When you use a mobile phone, the Flight Results screen gives you this information:

    • Airline abbreviation and flight number:  AA223
    • Departure time and airport code:   10:00a ORD
    • Arrival time and airport code:  12:00p SFO

Select a flight, and click Next to view the Flight Details for the selected flight. This screen tells you either that the flight is non-stop, or how many stops it makes. It also specifies the equipment used, for example, 747.

Click More to view the Options menu, and choose Flight Results to bring the list of direct flights to the screen again. Toggle between the two screens as needed.

How can I find out about connecting flights?

When you check on Flight Schedules and view the Flight Results screen, click the Get Connecting Flights button to view another Flight Results screen with a list of connecting flights. That second Flight Results screen has a Direct Flights button that you can use to bring the list of direct flights to the screen again. Toggle between the two screens as needed.

What does +1 mean on my flight results screen?

When you see +1 in Flight Results, for example, EA106 11:00p ORD 1:00a SFO+1 0 747, this means that the flight departs on one day and arrives on the next day. In this case, the flight leaves Chicago O'Hare at 11:00 p.m., and arrives in San Francisco at 1:00 a.m. the next day.

What does an asterisk (*) mean on my flight results screen?

An asterisk indicates that a different carrier is operating the flight. The carrier's name appears on the Flight Details screen.

How do I check to see if there are any seats available on a flight?

Using a Palm VII  handheld, select Flight Schedules from the Main Menu. Enter a departure city, arrival city, date and time to select flights of interest within your time frame. When the Flight Results screen appears, click a link in the Flight column to view the Flight Details. Click the Availability button in the Flight Details screen. The Availability screen lets you know whether seats are available in each class.

Using a mobile phone, choose Flight Schedules from the Main Menu. Enter a departure city, arrival city, date and time to select flights of interest within your time frame.. A Confirmation Screen appears with the information entered. If it is correct, click Next to view the Flight Results screen. Select a flight and click Next to view the Flight Details screen. Click More for the Options screen, and click Availability for information about available seats on the selected flight. To check on availability for a different flight, click Flight Results on the Options screen to view the Flight Results screen again.

Using OAGflights.com, log in and perform a flight schedule look-up from the Members page or from the Flight Information section of the site. Enter a departure city, arrival city, date and time to select flights of interest within your time frame. When the Flight Results screen is displayed, select a flight and click on the flight number to view the Flight Details screen. Click Availability for information about available seats on the selected flight.

Do I enter the names of the origin and destination cities for my flight?

You can enter the city names, city codes or airport codes for the origin and destination cities.

If you enter a city name, the list that appears contains the names of all airports in that city, the city name and its three character code (for example, Chicago, IL USA-(CHI)) and other cities in the world of the same name. For example, if you entered Los Angeles, the list would include Los Angeles, California and Los Angeles, Chile.

Select either the correct city if you want to see a listing of flights for all airports in that city, or the correct airport.

How can I find airport codes and information about services at  specific airports?

OAGflights.com provides links to the home pages of airports, where you can learn about services and other important information. Go to Airline & Airport Information and then click the  travel information link to access a page with a scrolling list of airports. Select the airport of interest from the list and click the Get Airport button to access the link to the airport's home page.

How can I find information about a specific airline including the airline code?

Visit the Airline & Airport Information area of OAG.com to view a table of information including airline codes and links to airlines' home pages.

When entering the date for my flight, do I need to enter a zero before single-digit days and months?

A prompt is always present to show you the format for entry of a date, for example, MM/DD/YYYY. This means that you need to enter two digits for both the month and day, and four digits for the year, for example, 08/09/2000. It is the reverse format in Europe.
